SUMMARY:Art Kiosk Exhibition - Whisper
DESCRIPTION:Artist : Shiyao Lin \nViewing Dates : June 6th – July 5th 2020 \n(please maintain proper six-foot social distancing while wearing a facial cover) \nFung Collaboratives Art Shows \nThe Art Kiosk aims to bring thought provoking Installation / Public Art to Redwood City\, CA and the Bay Area through a series f five week-long exhibitions\, throughout 2020. The initiative began in January 2019 as a nonprofit partnership between Fung Collaboratives as the curator and organizer\, Redwood City as the location and logistical partner\, and the Redwood City Improvement Association (RCAI) as the primary funder. Artists from the region and around the world were invited to realize their ambitious site-specific commissions in 2019. Each artist has researched the City\, it’s history\, and residents to conceive their new temporary installation so that each exhibition is meaningful and relevant to the viewers. \nIn this second year of exhibitions\, the curatorial focus has shifted exclusively to the Bay Area providing a much needed exhibition venue for the talented artists that call the Bay Area home. The artists are challenged to identify\, react and respond to the local environment for the inspiration of their site-specific commissions. Each exhibition promises to be thoughtful and engaging and is free to the public. \nWe would like to recognize the Redwood City Improvement Association as the sole funder the 2020 exhibition series along with the continued and crucial support of Redwood City. \nThe Art Kiosk is located at 2208 Broadway in Redwood City\, CA \n

SUMMARY:Art Kiosk Exhibition - Epoch
DESCRIPTION:Artist : Steven Dellicarpini \nViewing Dates : August 15th – September 13th 2020 \n(please maintain proper six-foot social distancing while wearing a facial cover) \nAbout the Installation \nEpoch\, by Bay Area artist Steven Dellicarpini puts a spotlight on time. The ever present passing of time is a constant in our universe. It pauses for no one and when it is gone\, it is gone. Often lost in the moment\, time seems to be more apparent to all of us lately. With every passing hour we see increases in racial\, social and cultural injustices\, negativity\, and the pandemic destruction. For many people\, 2020 will be the hardest year they have ever had to endure. It is important to remember that time is neutral\, it is not inherently good or bad. Time takes on meaning by the experiences of the participant and observer. As time passes on during our “new normal”of 2020\, Dellicarpini’s Epoch reminds every viewer to take caution and not write off 2020. Dellicarpini states\, “We all get a limited amount of grains in our life. If the ones you are experiencing now are difficult\, try to remember the good ones. If the ones you are fighting now hurt\, fight back. If the ones from today seem meaningless\, give them meaning.” \nEpoch is a seven foot tall sculpture in the form of an hourglass\, constructed from a paper based clay\, steel and polycarbonate. 1000 pounds of sand start in the top reservoir and quietly and methodically disappear into the bottom portion of the hourglass over the course of a week. The work comprises almost 8 billion grains of sand\, one for every human being on earth. At the end of the week the artist replenishes the sand and the cycle continues. Viewing Epoch is intended to be meditative\, watching the sand fall while life\, thoughts and current events continue. This peaceful and calm artwork is a call to action on both personal and community levels. \nAbout the Artist \nBay Area sculptor Steven Dellicarpini merges his professional background in electrical and mechanical design with his fine art education in sculpture to create thought provoking and meticulously crafted art. Always building and creating\, Dellicarpini has amassed a wide range of skills over the years and loves problem solving especially for his own work. His comfort zone is in the workshop and foundry allowing him the ease to create in any medium. \nSteve grew up in rural Connecticut at a time when kids played outside with their imagination. Because of this\, his style is strongly rooted in natural observations and themes. His latest body of work is inspired by elements of time\, exploration\, and discovery. These inquiries result in intriguing investigations from other worlds. Most recently\, he is obsessed with finding new and unique ways to combine dissimilar materials in his objects. \nSteve plans on applying his technical prowess and vision in various creative outlets where he can continue to explore sculpture and other physical arts. \nFung Collaboratives Art Shows \nThe Art Kiosk aims to bring thought provoking Installation / Public Art to Redwood City\, CA and the Bay Area through a series f five week-long exhibitions\, throughout 2020.
