‘Echo of Renewal’ art exhibit offers reflection and hope in Redwood City

The Redwood City Improvement Association, in partnership with Fung Collaboratives, has unveiled “Echo of Renewal,” the latest public art installation at the Art Kiosk in front of Courthouse Square.

Created by photographer Jesus Sanchez, the exhibit reflects on transformation and self-empowerment, drawing from Sanchez’s personal experiences, including his arrest in 2022.

Through two contrasting photographs of trees—one vibrant and full of life, the other barren with scattered petals—Sanchez explores themes of healing and fresh starts. Within the Art Kiosk, pink and white floral decals appear to float down, symbolizing fragility and renewal.

“Please don’t let a single mistake consume the entirety of your life,” Sanchez said. “What matters most is what we learn from them to improve ourselves.”

Sanchez, who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2024, hopes the installation will inspire visitors to reflect on their own journeys and embrace the mantra, “keep moving forward.”

The exhibit will be displayed at the Art Kiosk (2208 Broadway St.) through Feb. 23, 2025.
